Nano Mechanics

Progress Achieved: 1. Si nanosprings were fabricated and the nanoindentation measurement were performed on the bulk and the single spring.
2. Fabricated arrays of cantilever shaped Ag nanorods.
3. Fabricated arrays of two-arm and four arm Ag zig-zag structures.
4. Fabricated highly sensitive 3D Ag nanorods (AgNR) arrays based surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates on buckled poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) for the detection of P. aeruginosa by glancing angle deposition.
5. Successfully demonstrated a simple and facile method to increase the SERS enhancement of bacteria due to the formation of high density hot spots among the AgNRs and the increase in the area for better interaction of bacteria to the metal surface.
6. Studied the photocatalytic degradation of surface absorbed Rhodamine 6G dye molecules on the silver decorated TiO2 nanorods fabricated by glancing angle deposition.
